It’s mid-August 2017, and conversations everywhere are completely dominated by and rooted in strongholds, creating so much divisiveness. Perhaps Paul can remind us—all of us—of one simple (yet, apparently so complicated) fact about each and every person on the planet: Not one of us, here and walking the earth today, nor anyone who has passed, is or has ever been perfect.
Offering some benefit of a doubt, I’d like to propose that many of us creating division are doing so in the name of “trying to do something good.” Paul challenges us to think twice about the origins of “our good.” Remember, none of us carry a perfection card.
Jesus. He is perfect, and He once lived here, so again, we can look to Paul for some help in pointing us back to His example. We aren’t living in Book Of Eli type-times yet, the Words are readily available to us, it’s now up to us to accept them as Truth.
Have some of you noticed that we are not yet perfect? (No great surprise, right?) And are you ready to make the accusation that since people like me, who go through Christ in order to get things right with God, aren’t perfectly virtuous, Christ must therefore be an accessory to sin? The accusation is frivolous. If I was “trying to be good,” I would be rebuilding the same old barn that I tore down. I would be acting as a charlatan.
