Brooke Robertson – ‘Have My Heart EP’ album review

Emerging from the ever-present Louisiana talent movement, otherwise known as “Duck Dynastyville,” we are now introduced to Brooke Robertson, releasing her first national EP, Have My Heart (buy). Interestingly enough, Robertson is not related to the television stars who share both her name and home state, but all the while young Brooke was quietly honing her skills, and patiently awaiting a call of her own. Themed on trusting in God’s plans, Robertson dedicates this short set to encourage listeners to lean more on Christ, even when things seemingly don’t make much sense. Vocally, so much of this EP does, as it is truly a delight to behold. Living mostly in the pop-folk sphere, Robertson does a little more than hint at her growing depth and versatility as we pick up on tones akin to the likes of Vanessa Carlton to Maren Morris. Have My Heart also incorporates collaborations with Christian music friends such as Jeremy Holderfield of Seventh Day Slumber (producer) and Joel Rousseau of Carrollton (writing/performing on “Have My Heart” and “Back To Shore”).
