No stranger to the ears of worship music lovers worldwide, Gateway, the worship collective of Texas-based Gateway Church which serves over 40,000 congregants a week, returns with their latest collection of vertical praise and encouragement in Greater Than. With a thematic heartbeat that acknowledges that the world we live in is so often beset by heartbreak and pain, the album points listeners to the truth that God is always there moving in the midst of our hurt.
Recorded live, the setlist plays out like a First Wednesday worship gathering with rousing tracks like album opener “Something Good” with it’s driving rhythm and “All That I Need,” accented by a synth-laden drive standing out while songs like the title track and “Linger” provide more reflective moments. A definite highlight is the Matthew Harris-helmed “Deliverance,” infused with soulful vocals and a lyric of humility and praise.
Continuing their run of earnest vertical worship, Gateway again scores big with Greater Than.
