In a market filled with artists that are seeking to push the envelope and rally their audience, BEKEN emerges as a fresh voice poised to make an impressive impact. The duo just released their debut single and video “Mason Jars and Fireflies,” which serves as a quiet invitation to step back to a simpler time where childhood, where daily farm chores, summer sunsets, and family connections made up our daily lives.

BEKEN is a mother-daughter duo is made up of Erin and Addy Schneider. Erin began her music career as the debut artist on Nashville’s Autumn Records in 2008 while she was still raising her young family. Not long after, Addy earned a spot with the band The Rubys, and spent her early teen years honing her musical talents through a rigorous schedule of recording, performing, and touring. Now 17, Addy remarks that she has always considered her mother as her primary musical influence.

Living just outside of Nashville, TN allows the pair access and inspiration from nearly every genre of music. Their sound is a blend of their individual musical tastes, merging Folk, Country, Contemporary Christian music, and modern Pop, and their lyrics showcase two distinct personalities that are aligned by faith, artistry, and family.

Their band name comes from the German word “Bekannt” which means ‘to be known or acquainted’ and the English word “Beckon” which translates as “to encourage someone to come nearer.” These words fit the mantra of these multi-instrumentalists, who have already earned an early fan-base through both their perfectly matched harmonies and lyrics that share stories that only a mother and daughter can create. Assertive and honest, the band is focused on sharing songs that share the full extent of life. “We don’t sugarcoat anything in our music, in our relationship, or in our life experiences,” Erin shares. “I think that difference alone allows us to connect with our audiences on a very deep level from the start.”

In the coming months, BEKEN returns to the studio to record additional singles, while launching a summer tour of the south and the Midwest.

Erin continues, “We are a mother daughter duo with a desire to know and be known by others in all our imperfections, our struggles, our highs and our lows. And it’s in that “knowing” fully that we hope you can find a place at the table and feel the love and acceptance God offers each one… just as you are.”
