Alex Faith and Dre Murray collide on a new collaborative LP that, five years ago, would have warranted much more praise. However, when artists like Lecrae, Derek Minor and Propaganda are serving up tracks with a bit more substance and style, it places releases like Southern Lights: Exposed in an unaccustomed shade. That said, the pair deserve credit for speaking truth to important and often ignored topics, but the hooks aren’t as refined and the depth less dynamic than a hip-hop album is allowed to be anymore.
