Winter Jam 2023 (Raleigh, NC) Concert Review and Photo Galleries

Winter Jam 2023 rolled into Raleigh, North Carolina’s PNC Arena March 17^th for the 34th stop near the end of its incredible 40-city tour. The lineup featured We the Kingdom, Jeremy Camp, Andy Mineo, Anne Wilson, Disciple, Austin French, and Newsong along with Prejam artists Thrive Worship, Sean BE and RENEE, and speaker Zane Black. Headliner We the Kingdom captivated the crowd with its high-energy hits and visually stunning production. With their signature southern rock style, the band began with a song from their new sophomore self-titled album, “Left It in the Water,” then into a medley of “Proud Mary” by Creedence Clearwater Revival and “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry. Next up, We the Kingdom’s “Child of Love” celebrated freedom in Christ complete with children happily rolling on the floor in the burst of confetti. Fun moments from “Don’t Tread on Me,” included red lasers, intense guitar riffs and Frannie’s guitar toss. Fans filled the aisles at B-stage for “The Light in You” with the disco ball sparkling throughout the venue. To finish the night, Grammy-nominated hit “Holy Water” left fans filled with adrenaline. It’s easy to see why We the Kingdom has been so successful in recent years, especially with award-winning producer, songwriter, engineer and multi-instrumentalist Ed Cash at the helm, and the energy radiated by the entire band.

Christian music veteran singer/songwriter Jeremy Camp brought the pop/contemporary flare to Winter Jam this year performing fan favorites such as “Christ in Me,” “Keep Me In the Moment,” and “Dead Man Walking.” He had the most visually stunning light show, and repeatedly engaged with the crowd as they sang along with every word. With 10 albums, 41 #1 songs, ~5 million albums sold, numerous awards and nominations, and a movie about his life titled “I Still Believe,” Jeremy is one of Christian music’s most beloved singers.

Andy Mineo, a multi-faceted hip hop artist from New York, creatively told a story throughout his set that when we feel inadequate, we can rely on the Lord, (who ironically has a voice like Morgan Freeman), to direct our steps. Andy’s set featured worldwide viral hit “Coming in Hot,” “You Can’t Stop Me,” and “Good Lord.” His set is always a favorite.

Bringing the country flair to Winter Jam, young hitmaker Anne Wilson wowed “Hey Girl Nation,” with “My Jesus” and “Hey Girl.” A special moment was when she sang a tribute to her late brother Jacob, “No Place Like Home” and “What a Beautiful Name,” as photos and videos of him were displayed on the screen in his memory. Fans were excited to hear that her song, “Living Water” was recently featured in the movie Jesus Revolution.

Christian metal warriors Disciple, led by frontman Kevin Young, returned to the Winter Jam stage bringing head-banging energy, hard-hitting rhythms and powerful guitar solos from band members Josiah Prince, Andrew Stanton and Joey West. The band opened their set with a medley of hits including “O God Save Us All,” “Dear X,” and an Honor and Glory song “Battle Belongs.” Next up, their new single, “Promise to Live” encouraged fans to never give up or lose hope. This song is from Disciple’s new album, Skeleton Psalms scheduled for release on April 28^th. To close the set, the band rocked the arena with “Radical,” from the 2014 Attack album.

Winter Jam founders and gospel music sensation, Newsong, brought fan favorites including “I Am a Christian” and “Arise My Love” with their signature harmonies. Eddie Carswell, Billy Goodwin and Russ Lee still sound amazing after many years performing together. The highlight of their set was hearing the new song, “Love is Stronger,” set to be released this Friday March 24^th.

Austin French took the stage after the Prejam show with his unique soulful voice and was the artist I was most looking forward to hearing again live. “Born Again,” “Good Feeling,” and “Jesus Can” graced his setlist and energized the masses. My favorite quote of the night was when Austin said, “Don’t judge Jesus by the broken people He came to save.”

Prejam Artists – Spectacular sister duo with the same middle name, RENEE, kicked off the evening. The dynamic Sean BE showcased his new song, “Center Stage” and set the tone for the night with unbelievable energy. Thrive Worship is a group of diverse singers and musicians from Bayside Church in Sacramento, CA and closed the Prejam show beautifully.

Winter Jam has provided a wide variety of Christian music with worship and ministry in mind at rock bottom prices to bring others to Christ and strengthen one’s walk with God. Speaker Zane Black brought The Word beautifully, and Jason Roy of Building 429 shared the need for sponsoring children through World Vision. This combination of music and ministry has led many souls to Christ since Winter Jam began in 1995.
