Flint, MI-based singer, songwriter and producer Christian Anderson, best known for his anthemic lyricism, signature falsetto, percussive theatrics and roaring refrains, brings a cinematic approach he coins as “Epic Christian Pop” to “I Heard The Bells (Peace On Earth).” The song is available now from the Christian Anderson Band at digital and streaming outlets everywhere.
Lauded as one of the best new holiday songs music industry veteran Chris Hauser has worked to radio in the last several years, “I Heard The Bells (Peace On Earth)” was co-written and produced by Anderson along with GRAMMY-nominated, Dove Awards-winning Kene Bell and featuring orchestration by Anderson and David Davidson (Jelly Roll, Anne Wilson, Jason Mraz). The song is a contemporary remake of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” a carol based on the 1863 poem “Christmas Bells” by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Written during the civil war, the carol concludes with the bells ringing out with resolution that God is not dead, nor doth He sleep and that there will ultimately be peace on earth, good will to men.
“I tend to resonate with songs that have the deepest lyrics, often written during the darkest of times,” shares Anderson. “All the author could see when he wrote this poem was what was going on during the civil war. Yet, through the darkness the words are filled with a hope that goes beyond what is happening in the moment. With all the division in this political season, I feel like this song about peace on Earth will resonate with people, especially during this Christmas season.
“I like how cinematic Frank Sinatra’s version of the song is,” adds Anderson, “and I wanted to take that and make his theatrical element fresh for today’s listeners. Kene and I also came up with an original chorus melody using words from the original song.”
