Jeannie Ortega has released her first album in almost 10 years with the appropriately titled ‘Letting Go.’
“It’s been almost a decade since I released music and almost 20 years since I released an album that was 100% Jeannie. I am so excited for the world to hear this music,” said Ortega. “It’s honest, vulnerable, relatable, and fun to listen to. In life, we all get to a point where we realize we have to let go to keep on progressing in life. This is my declaration!”
Ortega has been around the block and back again in the music industry. She began her career in the early 2000s as a teenager from Brooklyn chasing the bright lights of Hollywood. Ironically, “Hollywood” became the name of the record label she signed with, which was an imprint of Disney.
The singer was thrust into being a teen pop star and had music on “That’s So Raven” and eventually released her debut album No Place Like BKLYN. It charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. It also featured the Top 25 Billboard single “Crowded” featuring Papoose in 2006. This momentum helped gain her an opening spot on Rihanna’s first major tour.
Now, nearly 20 years later after dabbling within the CCM world a bit, she has returned to her more hip-hop/urban roots with the album Letting Go.
“People tend to want to hold on to things in life but as we grow and mature we learn that freedom really comes from Letting Go of EVERYTHING and letting Him have His way in our life,” said Ortega.
Jeannie Ortega is fresh off the Future Legacy Showcase and walking the red carpet at the Dove Awards. She has already released “I Promise,” “Yahweh,” “Danza Salsaton,” “Hope,” and “Love Me.”
