Danny Gokey single rising at radio, ‘Idol’ this week

Gokey is talking about his latest single “Tell Your Heart To Beat Again,” which has been steadily climbing up the charts and is now a Top 5 song at Christian radio with over 8 million in audience and growing. The song sold 8,700 singles this week and is currently #1 at AC Indicator for the 2nd week in a row, #4 on the National Audience chart and a Top 10 AC Monitored track. “Tell Your Heart To Beat Again,” comes from Gokey’s #1 sophomore album Hope In Front Of Me (BMG). The album was released in June 2014 and had its highest weekly tracks sales this week with 10,161 according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Hope In Front Of Me has been consistently selling thousands of copies a week since its release almost two years ago. Gokey has also been on the road for over a year in support of this record and he recently finished a 28-city tour that saw him perform in front of almost 200,000 people.

“Tell Your Heart To Beat Again” has been connecting to people on an emotional level, and stories from people all over the country have been pouring in of how the song has broken down walls and is helping people heal. This is beyond rewarding for Gokey as his first wife passed away during a routine heart surgery—a story that connected him to millions of households when he performed on American Idol Season 8. But it was Gokey’s soulful, moving voice that catapulted him to the final 3 alongside Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.

The New York Times raves Gokey “has a robust voice that allows him to jump among his various identities without seeming out of place.”

He will return to American Idol and perform on the finale this coming Thursday, April 7th.

American Idol not only propelled Gokey up the charts, earning three chart-topping albums and a Barnes & Noble Top 5 autobiography, it also helped provide a platform for him to launch Sophia’s Heart, an organization founded to carry on the legacy of giving started by his late wife. The organization’s goal is to provide hope and help to homeless families in crisis.
