Living In India for 10 years, learning a different language, songwriting, and working with musicians in Calcutta has really prepared Zachary Ray for this next season of pursuing music full time.  Zachary Ray developed a passion for music while singing in his dad’s church at a young age. That passion for music lead him to study vocal performance and music business at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Zachary sees music as a tool that can be used to bring transformation and healing for people around the world. For 10 years, he’s been using the gift of music to teach and train aspiring musicians. He’s been living in Calcutta, India, using his experience and education to teach at Calcutta School of Music and started a company, Chaitown Creatives, to teach and train young musicians and vocalists. He met his wife while working in India, and they have a 2-year-old son, who was born in Calcutta.

In 2017 Jody McBrayer from the CCM group Avalon made a trip to Calcutta, India to work with Zachary for a week. Through this trip they began talking about producing and writing music, and in 2019 Zachary traveled back to America to record his first two singles, “Refuge” and “Chloe’s Song,  which were produced by Jody McBrayer at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, TN. Zachary is currently working on writing new music with producer, singer, and songwriter Nathan Walters from the PopCCM band Plus One. Nathan produced Zachary’s most recent release, “Let Go.”

Zachary’s love for music and sharing his story through lyrics has lead him to this current season focused on writing and releasing original songs. His last few songs are about his journey over the past few years. They are the story of a time in his life full of heartache, doubt, trust, deep love and healing but, most of all, it’s a story of the hope, comfort, peace and confidence that kept him going.
