It turns out this move came at “a pivotal time.” As the Bible school grew, many graduates went on to become pastors and leaders in the Christian movement. The Renner’s launched a Christian television program across the 15 bordering countries of Russia, and before long it reached 100 million people. Shortly after, their vision became a packed stadium meeting and launching a mega-church in Moscow that continues to thrive.
“People were very receptive,” says Renner. “There was a completely atheist atmosphere. So when you introduce a God who can heal and forgive your sins, people reacted. The 90s movement of God became the foundation of everything being built right now.”
But this was only the beginning. At 15, Philip became involved in worship ministry at Good News Church, a position that opened some surprising doors.
Later. Better. Different.
“I became the worship leader because I wanted to serve and minister. I also had a period when I had a band. We won a competition at the time, kind of like a Star Search, and I was really excited because it meant a lot of influence. But the Lord told me three words that completely changed my life: Later. Better. Different.”
