Ah, Valentine’s Day—the annual celebration of candlelit dinners, overpriced chocolates, and heartfelt playlists. Whether you’re planning the perfect romantic evening, reflecting on the love of God, or just enjoying some solid tunes, we’ve got you covered.
Christian music has given us some absolute gems when it comes to love songs—some about human love, some about divine love, and, in one case, a cheeseburger. So, in honor of Steven Curtis Chapman’s latest “Forever the Love of My Life”, let’s dive into the ultimate Christian love song playlist, categorized for your convenience. Many of them suggested to us via our X account (shameless plug.)
The “Marriage Goals” Anthems
These are the songs that belong in wedding slideshows, anniversary dinners, and the “play this at my wedding” notes on your phone.
“I Will Be Here” – Steven Curtis Chapman
If this song isn’t in your wedding playlist, is it even a Christian wedding? SCC gives us one of the most enduring love songs of all time, promising to be there through the laughter and the tears.
“Love is Not a Fight” – Warren Barfield
If you’ve ever been in premarital counseling, chances are, this song was mentioned at least once. It’s an honest, raw take on love as something you fight for, not against.
“God Gave Me You” – Dave Barnes
Yes, Blake Shelton made it famous, but Barnes wrote it first, and it’s still a masterpiece.
“Lead Me” – Sanctus Real
A heart-wrenching plea for husbands to step up, love well, and lead their families. It’s romantic, sure, but also a gut-punch if you’re not ready to be that guy. This is a Matt Hammitt era classic.
The “Classic 90s Christian Romance” Collection
These are the love songs you grew up hearing on Christian radio, often without realizing they were love songs.
“Every Heartbeat” – Amy Grant
For everyone who thought Amy only sang about Jesus—surprise! This pop hit is about human love, and it still holds up.
“That’s What Love is For” – Amy Grant
If “Every Heartbeat” didn’t convince you, this one will. Amy knew how to sing about love in a way that felt both personal and universal.
“Picture Perfect” – Michael W. Smith
The man responsible for countless worship anthems also gave us this love song. A must for 90s Christian kids.
“Godsend” – DC Talk
In the Supernatural era, dcTalk gave us this sweet ballad about finding “the one.”
“Kiss Me” – Sixpence None the Richer
Yes, it’s a mainstream hit. Yes, it’s still the ultimate dreamy love song. If you don’t include it in your Valentine’s playlist, what are you even doing?
The Love Songs You Need to Know
These tracks might not be the first that come to mind, but they deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame.
“I Love You with My Life” – Sweet Comfort Band
If you’ve ever wanted a love song that sounds like it belongs in both a wedding and a powerful altar call, this is it. With its smooth harmonies and lush instrumentation, this track delivers full-on yacht rock vibes—perfect for slow dancing on a boat or just dramatically staring out a window, contemplating love and life.
Bryan Duncan from the band responded to our X post about this track after it was suggested by one of our readers.
I’m still singing this song. I wrote it when I was 20, I recorded it in three different decades.

“The Day Before You” – Matthew West
A beautiful song about how life changes when you find the one. Warning: May cause spontaneous proposal planning.
“Nothing New I Do” – Brandon Lake
Lake is known for his worship songs, but here he gives us a heartfelt reminder that true love is steady, not just exciting.
“If” – House of Heroes
If you’d like a love song that talks about the Bride of Frankenstein… which I do… this is for you. A beautifully written love song with a poetic and cinematic flair.
“Gabriella” – White Heart
A deep cut from one of Christian rock’s greatest bands. If you don’t know it, now’s the time.
“To Cover You” – The Choir
A stunning and poetic song about love and protection. Indie Christian rock fans, this one’s for you.
The Rock & Roll Love Jams
For those who like their love songs with a little more SHREDDING guitar.
“Calling on You” – Stryper
Because nothing says “I love you” like high-pitched glam metal vocals for Jesus and/or your significant other. I don’t even know if I would consider this a love song, but I feel it when I hear it.
“Must Have Done Something Right” – Relient K
“We should get jerseys cause we make a good team.” Do we need to say more? It’s fun, catchy, and was probably on a burned CD you awkwardly gave someone on Valentine’s Day.
“Wonderful” – Bleach
A song about love that keeps things fun and light. A great reminder that love doesn’t always have to be so serious.
The Wild Card

“Cheeseburger” – Veggie Tales
Look, maybe this isn’t a love song in the traditional sense, but if Mr. Lunt singing about a cheeseburger isn’t a metaphor for love, I don’t know what is.
Mike Nawrocki, co-creator of Veggie Tales and co-writer of the iconic love ballad said in a statement to CCM Magazine: “Wow! I’m honored that our decorative gourd with a cheeseburger has made the list!”
Check out Mike’s new animated series “Dead Sea Squirrels” now available on Minno and look out for Red Carpet coverage from the premiere next week.
Credit our friends at Mixtape Theology for suggesting we include this anthem.
The “Future Love” Anthems
For those still waiting, hoping, and praying for the right person.
“Wait for Me” – Rebecca St. James
Chances are you dramatically wrote lyrics from this song in your journal while praying for your future spouse. Bonus points if you made a “Dear Future Husband/Wife” letter and tucked it into your Bible.
So there you have it—your ultimate Valentine’s Day playlist from Christian music’s best love songs. Whether you’re celebrating a lifelong romance, waiting for the right person, or just enjoying some great tunes, there’s something here for everyone.
And if all else fails, well… at least you still have your cheeseburger.
