Hadensville, VA (July 24, 2020)
Live music is back in some unexpected places! Awakening Events’ Drive-In Theater Tour live concert series features three giants in Christian music on stage together for the first time: Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Mac Powell. The Hadensville, VA show at the Goochland Drive-In on July 20th brought joy and some much-needed normalcy to fans during Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Check out the enthusiastic faces and unique setup of this drive-in live concert experience in the slideshow below by staff photographer, Annette Holloway.

Drive-ins make social distancing safer and easier with families able to watch the show both on stage and on the big screen from vantage points like a pickup truck bed, the back of an SUV, inside a vehicle, or in folding chairs on the ground where everyone is inside an assigned parking area. The audio can also be heard over an FM radio station if needed. With Virginia’s larger music events being cancelled for nearly four months, concerts like those of Drive-In Theater Tour with smaller crowds and social-distancing measures provide a safer family-oriented live concert experience.

Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Mac Powell (formerly of the band Third Day) have collectively sold 35 million albums and have been awarded 12 GRAMMY®s and 128 Dove Awards. To see them perform together on one stage was an amazing opportunity.
