Collaborating with pop artist Marika Siewert, their song “Every Dream (God Who Sees)” became the top Canadian Christian song at CHRI Ottawa in 2023. Another song, “In Search Of,” co-written by Marika, has been charting on Christian radio across Canada since spring 2024.
Brian’s continued musical journey includes other recent works like “Instruments Of Peace” and the anniversary re-releases of his classics, “Come Now Is The Time To Worship” with Matt Maher and “Refiner’s Fire” with Mission House. Beyond music, he mentors budding songwriters through his online program “Unlocking Your Songs.” Brian’s personal life is also a source of inspiration, as he and his wife Joyce live in Abbotsford, B.C., with their six children, two of whom have special needs.
Marika Siewert, an award-winning artist, brings her multi-faceted talents to the collaboration. With numerous Top 10 singles in pop, Hot AC, AC, and Christian music, and a #1 global songwriting credit, Marika’s music has been featured in television shows worldwide. Marika joined Brian Doerksen’s “Come Now Is The Time To Worship Tour” in 2024, Marika has performed alongside Brian in the USA, UK, and Canada. Their upcoming release promises to continue their shared mission of creating music that speaks to deep, universal themes of longing, hope, and faith.
This new release is set to feature a powerful song story rooted in Brian’s 1994 concept album Father’s House, a work that explores the deep desire for belonging and love. The song occurs at a pivotal moment in the Father’s House stage musical, where a young girl faces rejection from her drunk father and is kicked out of her home. The song expresses a profound longing for security, a yearning for the love and freedom that we all seek. It’s a song that, though written decades ago, continues to resonate with audiences today, capturing the timeless struggle of searching for a place of safety and belonging. This powerful narrative, woven into the musical and spiritual themes of both Brian and Marika’s artistry, forms the heart of their latest collaboration.
