Disciple surprised fans with “If You Say So,” the first in a series of single releases building from last year’s acclaimed Skeleton Psalms.
“It felt like a mission statement,” band founder and frontman Kevin Young shares. “It’s the call and the cost of being a disciple of Jesus. Sometimes you’re going to have a lot, sometimes you’re going to have a little. That doesn’t matter; we’re on a mission. It’s a fun thing to sing about because I feel like that has been our life as a band.”
Musically, the song draws heavily from 80s and 90s references like Pantera and Skid Row. The track is capped by a scream inspired by a Def Leppard concert. Longtime Disciple listeners will likely reminisce about By God and This Might Sting A Little eras of the band as “If You Say So” careens at a breakneck pace through the squeal of guitars and vicious vocals.
The song is already being road-tested as Disciple takes stages across the country on The Anthems Tour, supported by Seventh Day Slumber and Magdelene Rose. The tour kicked off at the start of the month and will continue through the end of November. You can find all date below.
