Nashville, TN (October 16, 2019)
Gotee Records’ Aaron Cole was named New Artist of the Year Tuesday night during the live taping of the 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards. Cole is the first hip-hop artist to win this category in Dove Award history. This honor speaks to his already storied career start over the last few years as he has collaborated with over 20 artists in the industry including TobyMac, Hollyn, Koryn Hawthorne, Derek Minor and Ryan Stevenson. Cole’s acceptance speech was named by The Tennessean as one of the Top 8 moments of the night stating that his speech was “a brilliantly candid speech for its future highlight reels.”
“I just wanna thank God, bro … It’s a lot of hard work, you feel me? This is a lot of doing rap shows, chicken dinners … sleeping on couches. Any artist out there that got a dream, if a boy from Bristol, Virginia — y’all don’t even know where that’s from — can do this, you can do this. Oh snap. Let’s Gooooo!”

Cole also performed his song, “There For Me,” during the awards highlighting his incredible talent. Gotee Records also celebrates Cole as their fourth New Artist of the Year nominee in the last seven years and second win.
“Words can’t express how I feel,” shares Aaron Cole this morning about last night. “This is wild. God is good. This is way bigger than me.”
“My dude Aaron Cole is about to take it all somewhere special,” shares Gotee Records co-founder and C.E.O. TobyMac. “This is the tip of the iceberg, and it just goes deeper and wider from here on out.”
Cole recently released his full-length debut, Not By Chance, with Gotee Records, and he already has more than 50 million combined streams across AppleMusic, Pandora, Spotify and YouTube. His music has been featured this past year on Netflix’s On My Block, ESPN’s The NBA Rookie Special, Fox’s The Passage and VH1’s Black Ink Crew. This new artist award now adds to his two No. 1 Billboard radio singles along with many touring accolades including the upcoming 2020 TobyMac Hits Deep Tour.
The 50th Annual GMA Awards show was held yesterday in Nashville, TN at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) will air the awards this Sunday, October 20 at 8pm EST/5pm PST.
