Media personality and mental health advocate, Trevor Tyson, combines entertainment, inspiration, and conversations in the weekly podcast Trevor Talks. On this week’s episode, Tyson got to sit down for an exclusive interview with the latest Reach Records hip hop signee and Brunswick, Georgia native Hulvey.

“The music is only one thirty-fourth of the life I live.” In an easily relatable interview, Hulvey (22) takes us on his “spiritual maturity” journey and the influence it has played in his life today. He discusses how overcoming obstacles, dropping out of college, and scrubbing toilets at Publix have led him to chase his passion for music, all while balancing love and his faith.

His label debut EP BRKNHRT was released in 2020 and immediately garnered him national praise. Pandora named him Christian Artist to Watch in 2020, his work has been featured onVH1’s Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta in 2020 and on ABC’s hit show ‘The Rookie.’ Shortly after, BRKNHRT released just as the global pandemic hit.

Having to put the hopes of touring and performing on hold, Hulvey, like the rest of the world, found himself in his bedroom, secluded from his friends and family, but it was then that he faced his insecurities and fears and surrendered them to God. From that raw and honest place of deliverance and victory, a new body of work was born.

“My name Christopher means ‘Christ-bearer, and I feel like that’s what this [album] is, a Christ-bearer on display.”

Christopher is out now via Reach Records.
