There’s something authentic about watching someone wrestle with their faith in real time. Not staged. Not filtered. Just honesty. That’s exactly what Katy Nichole is offering on her forthcoming sophomore album, Honest Conversations—and it might be her most vulnerable move yet.

The 24-year-old breakout star, who seemed to appear fully formed with 2023’s Jesus Changed My Life, is no stranger to the charts. Her debut spawned three No. 1 radio hits, a Platinum-certified anthem (“In Jesus Name”), and enough momentum to launch her into the stratosphere of Christian music. But even as her star rose, the internal battles never stopped. And now, she’s singing through them.

“When I wrote ‘Honest Conversations,’ it was me wrestling with my relationship with God,” Katy says, speaking with the kind of openness that makes you lean in. “If I’m so loved by God, why do I still have this much pain? I look in the mirror and don’t like who I see… and it feels like there are a lot of moments I can’t find Him.”

That question—where are you, God?—echoes throughout the new album, releasing August 15 via Centricity Music. Produced by Grammy nominee Jeff Pardo, Honest Conversations spans 12 tracks that sound like journal entries set to melody, born from real prayers whispered in dark rooms and car rides home.

Her first single off of Honest Conversations, “When I Fall,” became a runaway success on TikTok—racking up 200 million views and over 200,000 creator shares—but the depth of the track, and the ache in her voice, points to a songwriter who isn’t playing for clicks. She’s playing for keeps.

“I hope this record makes people feel like they’re getting a big hug when they’re going through something,” Katy says. “Life is messy and complicated, but there is still so much beauty to be found.”

“I’ve just begun the next chapter of my healing journey,” she says. “And I want people to know it’s okay to be in the middle of theirs.”
