In their first-ever collaboration, GRAMMY-nominated artists Keith & Kristyn Getty and Dove Award-nominated Cochren & Co. have teamed up to write a bold new song challenging families to honor and serve the Lord. Inspired by the declaration of faith found in Joshua 24:15 — “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” — the artists hope the song will help unite families to step out with courage, surrender, and faith in the promises of God as they embark on a new school year.

Michael Cochren of Cochren & Co. shared his inspiration behind the song, “I look around the world today and it’s never been more obvious that everyday we wake up as children of God with a choice between serving the idols of this age and the powers that be or the one true living God. I wanted this song to be a rallying cry for the believer to stand firm in their faith and to be a witness and a light to those around them.”

As families prepare to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead, Kristyn Getty, also a mother of four, envisions the song as a source of strength and encouragement. “The back-to-school season always stirs up a mix of emotions. There’s the excitement of new beginnings and the relief of routine. But we also recognize the challenges our children face as they develop friendships, learn new things, and also understand the Christian faith in tricky, sometimes hostile contexts.

“It is our hope that this song would be an anthem for your home and the perfect back-to-school song….our family has already taken it to heart, singing it together around our home and in the car especially in the mornings! We pray for our kids that this shining, unshakeable truth [Joshua 24:15] may be heard in our homes, may sing in their hearts, and walk fully with them wherever they go.”

As for Me and My House” was co-written by Michael Cochren, Keith & Kristin Getty, and Bryan Fowler. The three artists will debut the song live at the Sing! Conference: The Songs of the Bible, taking place September 3-5 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN. The conference is expected to draw more than 6,500 in-person attendees and be viewed by more than 50,000 people online.
