Morrissa Nicole’s latest release, “He Knows My Name,” originally titled “Sunday School Stories,” is a beautiful homage to the nostalgic, childlike faith fostered during Sunday School. The song transports listeners back to simpler times, evoking memories of sitting in church with tiny hands folded, listening wide-eyed to vibrant Bible stories like Daniel in the Lion’s Den and David and Goliath. These moments of childlike wonder, which Morrissa herself vividly recalls, are the foundation of her Christian journey. Her hope is that listeners will feel the same sense of connection and faith, remembering how these stories nurtured their own understanding of God’s love.

Morrissa’s song serves as a heartfelt reminder that the powerful stories from Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Children’s Church are more than just tales of the past. They are living testimonies of God’s unwavering presence. In today’s world, filled with doubt and uncertainty, she believes it is easy to forget that the same God who delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is still present in our lives today. Her song is a call to lean on that childlike faith, to trust in God’s promises no matter the challenges we face.

Morrissa was introduced to music at a very young age. She honed her gifts as a classically trained pianist and vocalist, and by age seven, had already won her first national songwriting competition, proving she was on the right path. Her love for music continued to grow as she spent her teenage years performing in musicals, choirs, and piano recitals across her city. Her hard work led her to a national competition in the United States, where she released her first EP album out of Nashville, Tennessee, with the hit single “What If” making waves on radio stations before her 20th birthday.

The success of her debut album allowed Morrissa to share the stage with Gospel legends like Karen Clark Sheard, Fred Hammond, and JJ Hairston. Whether through songwriting, playing piano, or singing, Morrissa feels that music is her most powerful tool for connecting with hearts worldwide. She passionately affirms, “Music transcends borders and languages, making it one of the most powerful tools to connect with people.”

In addition to her music career, Morrissa has made a name for herself as an actress, appearing in popular television shows like Kim’s Convenience, Netflix’s Let It Snow, and Lifetime’s Toying With The Holidays. She also proudly made her stage debut at Madison Square Garden during the North American tour of We Will Rock You in 2019. Morrissa continues to expand her repertoire, voicing Lydia Loops in the upcoming PBS Kids animation series Lyla in the Loop, set to air in February 2024.
Morrissa’s passion for empowering youth is evident through her community initiative, Youth Empowered to Stand, created in collaboration with her church, The Worship Center Ministries. The program is designed to inspire and develop a love for the arts among young people, reflecting her deep commitment to fostering creativity in the next generation.

With a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies and ambitions to pursue a Master’s and Ph.D., Morrissa has made it her mission to combine her love for children with her passion for music and performance. Her guiding philosophy is simple: “I sing to share the love of Jesus, to give a voice to the voiceless, and to remind people of God’s heart for them.”

For Morrissa Nicole, this is only the beginning. Her powerful, evocative voice and heart for people everywhere promise a bright future, one guided by faith, grace, and a desire to touch lives through music.
