NASHVILLE, Tenn.
Returning to the stage that started it all for season 7 winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” Craig Wayne Boyd was on hand to celebrate Blake Shelton’s final season on the hit series. This week Boyd released new single “Golden” and an acoustic version of “The Old Rugged Cross,” which is the song he performed when he won season 7 of “The Voice” as a member of Blake Shelton‘s team.
“‘The Old Rugged Cross’ will forever be a song that is near and dear to my heart,” The Voice alum said of his new acoustic version of the song. “I felt compelled to share a more intimate version of this with y’all and hope that it continues to move you like it does me.”
Earlier this year Boyd released “One Line Away,” via Enteract Entertainment. The song was co-written by Boyd, Trent Tomlinson and Arlos Smith. People.com exclusively premiered the video to the romantic single.
Born and raised in Texas, country crooner and multi-instrumentalist Boyd moved to Nashville with big dreams and a bellowing voice. He spent ten years working those late night honky-tonks until fate stepped in and dealt him one heck of a hand. America fell in love with Boyd on their living room couches as they eagerly watched him win season 7 of “The Voice.” Some of his most memorable moments on the show include his soulful rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Walk the Line”, his star studded performance of “Boots On” alongside Blake Shelton and the forever touching “Old Rugged Cross”.
