Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Mcxxne announces the release of her new single, ‘Be Still’.
A fresh sound from the emerging artist, Mcxxne blends her R&B, pop and gospel influences to highlight the importance of putting your trust in faith to carry you through the fluctuations of life.
Through layers of Mcxxne’s vocals, the track perfectly captures a choir-like sound reminiscent of a Church setting. However, with its ambiguous lyricism, the track becomes relevant to various situations, regardless of belief, assuring the listener that peace is always on the horizon.
Speaking on the track, Mcxxne says:
“I wrote this song during times of hardship and feeling like giving up on myself and my dreams, despite all of this my faith was the only thing that kept me going. The song is a reminder to myself and listeners not to give up on themselves even when facing hardships of life, that peace will come no matter what the circumstances appear to be.”
Supported across platforms such as BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Introducing and DMY, as well as joining DJ Ace on his R&B tour, Mcxxne’s burgeoning talent has found her significant social media growth across this year, with a co-sign from Ayra Starr.
As the anticipation mounts for her breakthrough in 2024, Mcxxne stands poised to solidify her presence as a rising star on the music scene ahead of her debut headline show in Sunderland this month.
Mcxxne is a graduate of the Northern Roots mentoring programme.
