Gaither Music Group has just announced a long-term partnership with GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer Rudy Pérez. An international icon, Pérez has just released a stirring, Spanish-translated version of the Bill Gaither Gospel music classic “Because He Lives.” Released on May 29 by Gaither Music, “Porque El Vive” offers a timeless message of faith and hope framed by Pérez’s rousing musical arrangement.

The song is set to be the first of many creations for which Pérez will partner with Gaither Music. During the past three decades, Pérez has composed more than 1,000 songs – over 300 of which have been #1 or Top Ten hits. Known as “the producer/songwriter with the Midas touch,” he has earned 500 gold and platinum album awards, five GRAMMY Awards and 19 GRAMMY nominations. The first Latin producer to win the Billboard Hot Latin Track Producer the Year Award for four consecutive years, he is also a five-time winner of ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year Award.
“It is such an honor to be in partnership with Gaither Music Group,” said Pérez. “I have had the dream for many years to create Latin music that is competitive with any music on the planet but with lyrics of hope and faith. When I heard what Gaither Music was doing, I knew they would be the right partners for my dream. I’m so honored, excited and proud to say that we’re brothers in faith and music.”
“When Gloria and I wrote ‘Because He Lives’ back in the 70s we had no idea that it would be sung in multiple languages around the world for over four decades now,” stated Gospel legend and GMG founder Bill Gaither. “When Rudy Pérez recently told us he wanted to produce a new recording of it, we were thrilled. He has crafted a beautiful translation and a special rendition of this song. We remain in awe of how far and wide this message of hope has reached, and it is humbling to see Rudy present this song in a whole new way for generations to come.”
The partnership with Gaither Music, one of the largest independent Christian music companies in the world, elevates Pérez’s talents within the faith-based music community and expands the company’s catalogue, offering a wider variety of inspirational music to its listeners around the world.
The list of artists for which Pérez has written and produced tracks is long, ranging from Beyoncé and Michael Bolton to Christina Aguilera, Julio Iglesias and more. The entrepreneur also produced Natalie Cole’s final album, which included a touching and historic duet performed in Spanish by Cole and her father, Nat King Cole. As one of the icons responsible for one of the hottest trends to surface in the Latin music industry, Pérez has helped guide English-speaking artists like Beyoncé into a Spanish music market crossover.
Over his illustrious career, he has become one of the go-to visionaries for music moguls to call upon; Simon Cowell sought out Pérez’s expertise in producing his biggest artists, including IL Divo. In 2009, the visionary teamed with music industry veteran Rick Stevens to launch Bullseye Music Entertainment, a boutique indie Latin music label. After launching the careers of stars such as Jencarlos Canela, Bullseye earned Independent Label of the Year and was nominated for a Billboard Music Award as the Latin Pop Label of the Year (the only non-major label recognized with this honor).
This joint venture with GMG comes on the heels of the 2019 release of Pérez’s autobiography, The Latin Hit Maker (Harper Collins/Zondervan), in which he details the dreams of his pastor father for his talents to be used in the Christian music marketplace—a dream he is passionately bringing to pass.
