Since 2002, award-winning Gospel ensemble Steve Dalton & The Levitical Singers of Charlotte have been singing God’s praises in their home state of North Carolina and around the country. Since the release of their single, “I Win, The Remix” featuring the vocal stylings of Gospel songstress LeJuene Thompson, the group has been seen at the Black Expo and in states such as Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio, Florida and Georgia. Gospel fans have seen them open up for Marvin Sapp, John P. Kee and Jonathan Nelson.
Now Steve Dalton & The Levitical Singers of Charlotte are putting the finishing touches on three new releases scheduled to drop in 2019. The first EP to release is called The Introduction. Those who are familiar with the music ministry of Steve Dalton & The Levitical Singers of Charlotte will recognize original and covers songs from this EP such as “All The Glory”, “Our God”, “So Free”, the aforementioned “I Win” and “How Great Is Our God”. The second EP to drop is called Release The Sound. Its content will focus on the sonic aspect of worship including tracks like “Release The Sound,” “You Are Good,” “Free 2 Worship” and “Grateful”. The final EP of the trilogy is The Victory, an EP with songs about overcoming featuring a more contemporary vibe than the group has been previously known for. Tracks like “Not Over,” “Never Lose,” “Turn Around” and a previous single, “Heal The Scars,” will be included on the track listing.
Comprised of Dalton, his wife, Lisa, James Hancock, Keala Baker, Cidney Hancock and Kendra Washington, Steve Dalton & The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte have been singing together for more than 15 years. In addition to their God-centered music, their name, “Leviticus Singers”, denotes how important it is that they follow the call of the Levite. The singing aggregation dropped their first CD, Address Change: God’s Great Relocation Music Project, in 2006 which positioned them as deliverers of “vertical music”. Since that time, they have released several singles, including their original Christmas song, “Jesus Christ Is Born”, increasing their fan base along the way.
It’s not just ensemble’s fans who have been embracing the group, but the Gospel music industry has taken note as well. Steve Dalton & The Leviticus Singers of Charlotte have been nominated for numerous awards and won the 2015 Gospel Image Award for Best Video of the Year for “I WIN” and a 2016 Gospel Image Award for Group of the Year. They have made several television appearances including Friends & Neighbors, Hour of Harvest and Club 36.
