Summer is the season for long days, late nights, and chasing adventure wherever you can, and every adventure needs an epic soundtrack, right? Some of our favorite artists have new music coming out in the next few weeks. Check out our July roundup of upcoming releases, then tell us in the comments which one you can’t wait to blast in the car on your next road trip!
House Of Heroes – COLORS, Independent (7/1)
In the four years since their last LP, House Of Heroes has been cooking up their next great concept record, and it’s finally time to release Colors into the world! Judging by the new songs from their last EP Smoke and the early release “Colors Run,” this is going to be a welcome return for the Ohio rock band.
Switchfoot – Where The Light Shines Through, Vanguard Records (7/8)
It’s Switchfoot. That’s all the reason you need to get excited. While early single “Live It Well” delivers the inspirational rock n roll we’ve come to expect (“Meant to Live” 2016 maybe?), “Float” shows off a funky bass groove that’s summer festival perfect. No matter how close you are to the ocean, nothing says summer like California surf rock!
NEEDTOBREATHE – H A R D L O V E, Atlantic (7/15)
Rivers in the Wasteland was a record of healing and a reset for NEEDTOBREATHE, and now their latest, HARDLOVE, has the Southern rockers pressing outward into new territory. Drawing on funky ‘70s influences for songs like “Money and Fame” and experimenting with more synthetic pop beats, this is a new record you won’t want to miss.
Relient K – Air For Free, Gotee (7/22)
Rounding out the summer of rock n roll is brand new music from Relient K! It’s been a few years since we heard from them, so Air For Free definitely will be a welcome addition to our road trip playlists. Expect the carefree pop rock and witty songwriting that have made them a beloved artist for years.
Leeland – Invisible, Bethel Music (7/22)
Leeland Mooring and Casey Moore return with their fifth studio album this summer. Invisible is their first release since joining the Bethel Music Collective, and is breaking new ground with a bolder production style and joyful collection of songs. If you love worship music, you’re sure to find some new favorites on this release.
