Nearly ten years after his debut, Brandon Heath has increasingly become a Christian music mainstay with six Dove Awards, five Grammy nominations and even an Emmy Award in his arsenal. Now six studio albums along, the singer/songwriter who spawned “I’m Not Who I Was,” “Wait and See,” “Give Me Your Eyes” and “Your Love” continues in his intelligent, guy-with-a-guitar tradition via songs reflecting various chapters of his spiritual journey. For starters, a chunk of the collection finds Heath reflecting on being born again at a Young Life camp exactly two decades ago, which he hopes will inspire listeners to reclaim the freshness of when they first found the Lord. “One Way To Heaven,” “Only Just Met You” and “When I Was Young” perhaps best reflect the passion of that initial teenage decision, but are also peppered with the wisdom he’s learned along the way. “Girl Of My Dreams” marks another coming of age moment chronicling the troubadour’s recent nuptials, laced with just as much wit as sincere thankfulness for finding the love of his life. The veteran Ed Cash, one of Heath’s lifelong mentors, but surprisingly, a first time production collaborator, also assists with an arty edge to the acoustic/ contemporary pop collection, while Heath’s sometimes soulful and always warm vocals add icing to this tasteful declaration of faith.
