Some holiday album releases focus on updating the traditional with fresh takes on familiar songs and brand new compositions. Others, like Kim Walker-Smith’s When Christmas Comes, keep it traditional with a straightforward set of Christmas classics. Fans of the Jesus Culture worship leader will no doubt enjoy this loaded album packed with seventeen songs to set the mood for the Christmas season. “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manger,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “O Holy Night” are all present, along with a heavenly host of others you’ll know and appreciate once again. Given Walker-Smith’s incredible vocal prowess, her take on “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” is especially powerful.
