London Gatch ‘New Stories’ Review

London Gatch
New Stories
(BEC Recordings/BEC Worship)

Once a key member of the Elevation Worship ministry team, London Gatch is now stepping out in faith on her own to unveil New Stories to listeners worldwide. When she and her husband, Lance, felt God calling them away to something new in 2016, it set forth a set of life-changing moments as they left the security of a successful ministry and gave birth to their daughter, Tilly. These seismic personal shifts come together as the thematic foundation on her debut effort.

The soundscape of the record is clean and bright, setting the table for Gatch’s warm, passionate vocals which deliver her uplifting lyrics with ease. Early single “Jesus Only You” stands strong with its lyric celebrating the freedom found in Christ’s deliverance, while the title track while “Shepherd” highlights the beauty of God’s sovereignty, with Gatch’s vocals tender and heartfelt. “You Never Walk Away” brings some needed energy with bright tones and a vertical lyric that coincides well with the passion found on songs like “You Uphold Me” and album closer, “Oh What Perfect Love.”

While at times the mix struggles with a vanilla musical backdrop, London Gatch’s New Stories makes up for that gap with earnest heartfelt anthems of praise and worship.
