On studio album number five, The Afters clearly sound like seasoned veterans, but there are also several subtle twists on a formula that’s propelled the group to the top of the Christian charts on countless occasions. This time through, the electronically-tipped anthems are abundant (“Shadows,” “Battles,” “Time Of My Life”), while the handful of building ballads (“Sunrise,” “When You’re With Me,” amongst others) are just as gripping in a more contemplative context. Though birthed out of various trials for the band, Live On Forever (buy) finds solid footing in God’s steadfastness and seems custom crafted for those seeking solace in the path of an uneasy storm.
