If you didn’t know, most, if not all, Christmas albums are recorded either in the summer, or usually not when the “weather outside is frightful.” Consider this, when listening to O Come Emmanuel: Carols Of Christmas, and you will be all the more impressed with this collection, produced by Andrew Greer. Each song on the album will instantly transport the listener in a cozy wintry scene, whether curling up beside a December fire or sitting in the sand, along the toe-lapping surf. In addition to the stunning instrumental orchestrations (of particular note, an arrangement of “What Child Of This,” featuring Ron Block of Allison Krauss’ Union Station), highlights include a touching duet with Greer and Lindsay McCaul on “Different Kind Of Christmas,” and “Silent Night” with Dr. Gregg Bunn on organ.
